Natalie Harper

Natalie Harper joined the Bennie E. Goodwin board of directors in February of 2008 and was elected Board Secretary in February 2009. Originally from Atlanta, Georgia, Natalie received her Bachelor’s of Business Administration in Accounting from Clayton State University. In 2009, Natalie received her Master’s of Nonprofit Management from Regis University. Natalie has worked in the nonprofit sector in Denver for 10 years. Specializing in the areas of Accounting and Finance, Natalie is currently the Controller at Cadence International. Prior to working for Cadence, she was the Accounting Manager at Mile High United Way. Natalie uses her education and experience to help further the work of the nonprofit sector. Her passion for youth and education led her to the Bennie E. Goodwin After School Academic Program. In her free time, Natalie enjoys traveling with family and friends.

Antoinette Hudson

Antoinette Hudson is a Native of Denver, Colorado. She has nine years teaching and administrative experience which includes: six years with the Denver Public School District and three years with the Cherry Creek School District. Ms. Hudson possesses two Master’s Degrees from the University of Phoenix, a degree in Administration and Supervision, along with a degree in Curriculum and Instruction. As an educator in the Cherry Creek School District, Ms. Hudson was a visible advocate in assuring that all students receive an equal, equitable, and accessible education through her work as a C.A.R.E (Collaborative Action Research for Equity) teacher. Her role involved instructional leadership support as she trained teachers within her building to plan, teach, and create lessons that are culturally responsive for students of color while developing lasting relationships with families and the community. As an educator within the Denver Public School District, Ms. Hudson was a member of the Revitalization Committee which coordinated the redesign of Stedman Elementary School’s instructional programs and the redevelopment of the playground. Ms. Hudson is currently a doctoral student at the University of Denver majoring in Diversity and Higher Education.

Alphonso B Hawkins

Alphonso B. Hawkins is currently Vice President in the Commercial Banking Division at U.S. Bank where he manages a number of relationships of middle market companies with revenues from $10.0MM to $500.0MM. Alphonso has been with U.S. Bank since 1996 after graduating Cum Laude from Morehouse College in Atlanta, GA, where he received his Bachelor’s of Arts Degree with an emphasis in Corporate Finance. Alphonso started his banking career in the Commercial Banking division as a Credit Analyst in 1996 being promoted at various times to his current position as Vice President in 2006. Alphonso is a Colorado native and is very active in various community activities and organizations. He is currently on several Advisory Boards including the Salvation Army-Intermountain Division, Risk Management Association, Bennie E. Goodwin Foundation, and is a past board member of the Urban League of Metropolitan Denver and Urban Financial Services Coalition. Alphonso has two sons, Julian and Alexander and is married to Marti L. Hawkins.

 

Rosalyn Reese

Rosalyn Reese recently joined the Bennie E. Goodwin board on November 1, 2010. Rosalyn currently serves on the deaconess board at Rising Star Missionary Baptist and previously served on the African American Leadership as the board secretary. Rosalyn is a 2008 graduation of the Regional Institute for Health and Environmental Leadership. She works for the Alzheimer’s Association as the Multicultural Outreach Coordinator and is a professional photographer. Djuana Harvell

Djuana Harvell serves as Board President of the Bennie E. Goodwin After School Academic Program. Since becoming a board member she has served on various committees including: fundraising, board development, evaluation, community outreach, public relations and marketing. Under her leadership as President, the Board has improved governance practices (policy, strategic planning and evaluation), strengthened its organizational structure and board fund raising capacity. Dr. Harvell enjoys fostering the education of our youth and as an active member of the Denver Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. initiated an Annual ACT College Entrance Exam Preparatory Workshop. She has also held a variety of positions within her Sorority including immediate past Vice-President. As a result of her efforts she has previously been awarded the “Torch of Excellence” Award and the “Irma Kelly Hudson Image” Community Award. She received a B.S. and M.S. degree in Chemistry from Clark Atlanta University and a Ph.D. in Pathology and Microbiology from the University of Nebraska Medical Center. She is presently an Assistant Research Professor at the University of Colorado Denver. Her favorite quote is “You are only limited by the limits of your creativity”.

Carol Reagan

Carol works as a Program Manager for the University of Colorado Denver, Colorado Sickle Cell Care Network on the Anschutz Medical Campus. At the Colorado Sickle Cell Care Network, she assists in coordinating primary care and education for patients, families and providers. She is passionate about the work at the Colorado Sickle Cell Care Network in preventing mortality rates and decreasing morbidity rates for people with sickle cell disease. Formerly, Carol worked for The Partnership for Families and Children as a Project Coordinator for the Equality in Health Initiative where she provided training and technical assistance to organizations throughout Colorado to help increase organizational and individual cultural competency and provide more culturally effective medical care to racially and ethnically diverse patients. Previously, Carol also worked as a researcher with the University of Colorado Denver American Indian and Alaska Native Programs as a well as a research associate with the Colorado Health Institute. Carol has a Masters in Health Services Administration from Regis University. Carol joined the Board of Directors for the Bennie E. Goodwin ASAP in March, 2009. She currently serves as the Board Treasurer. When Carol is not working, she enjoys spending time with her husband (Mika El) and son (Amari) as well as with family and friends. Some of her favorite hobbies include traveling internationally, going to the movies, working with youth, playing board and card games and exploring different places that serve good food.
